Enjoy another beautiful, completely flat walk through the interior of the Empordà and visit four towns of medieval origin: Peratallada, Ullastret, Matajudaica and Castell d’Empordà.

We suggest another beautiful and easy excursion (there is almost no difference in altitude) to discover the interior of the Baix Empordà, the homeland of Josep Pla and one of the most beautiful areas of Catalonia.

This time we are going to visit Peratallada and walk from Ullastret to La Bisbal (capital of the region) passing through Matajudaica and Castell d’Empordà. Villages and districts of medieval origin, little known and located in an area of great scenic beauty.

Aspects to highlight:
1- Opportunity to visit Peratallada, Ullastret, Matajudaica, Castell d’Empordà and La Bisbal
2- Enjoy a beautiful and smooth very flat walk from Ullastret to La Bisbal passing through the unknown Matajudaica and Castell d’Empordà.

PERATALLADA
Peratallada is one of my favorite villages in the Empordà. Small, well kept and less known than Pals. The village is built around its ancient castle and its narrow and beautiful streets have preserved all its medieval charm.

ULLASTRET
Unlike Pals or, to a lesser extent, Peratallada, the medieval village of Ullastret has managed to stay well away from tourism. And it is a miracle, since Ullastret also hides a rich and beautiful medieval heritage.

In addition, very close to Ullastret are the remains of the largest Iberian settlement discovered so far in Catalonia. The city, flanked by imposing walls, served as the capital of the entire territory indiketa, and exploited agriculture, livestock, mines and quarries.

MATAJUDAICA
In the tiny Matajudaica, time seems to have stopped. An oasis of rural tranquility in the heart of the Empordà. It is always a pleasure to stroll through its surroundings.

CASTELL D’EMPORDÀ
Another delightful, tiny and unknown hamlet that hides two treasures: the fortress -currently a luxury hotel- that gave origin to the urban nucleus and the beautiful church of Sant Martí de Llaneres.
