Sant Genís dels Agudells, located at the foot of the Collserola mountain range, is one of the most curious neighborhoods of the city. Its semi-rural character and its privileged environment make us forget that we are in Barcelona. The current neighborhood, which belongs to the district of Horta-Guinardó, was for centuries a small rural nucleus born around the church and a place much appreciated by the hikers who came up from Barcelona. The rural landscape only began to change during the Franco years, with the construction of humble houses and blocks of apartments for the working classes.

The Montbau neighborhood was born in the fifties of the last century with the construction of more than 13,000 houses of rationalist inspiration, and among its main attractions are Les llars Mundet, the Palau de les Heures and the Ceramics Street, a set of houses from the sixties that maintain an amazing modernity. At the top of the neighborhood is the little-known chapel of Sant Cebrià, which hosted, among other historical figures, Ignatius of Loyola and St. Francis of Assisi.

A very complete guided tour to discover the most rural Barcelona.
